Bootcamp + Workplace
Bootcamp ended
I haven't written to this blog in a long while. The bootcamp ended a significant while ago - 7 months or so. At present I'm working at a company and continuing my training.
In the interim, I've moved from my home to a different city; learned the basics of a few languages and tools ( Terraform, JS/TS, Clojure/Elixir, Azure ); I've become used to working at this company, on internal and external projects. There are many changes; some remain private.
It is almost the Christmas period once again. I look forward to spending time with family.
I am scared at how fast time passes. It greater my age, the faster time flows. It seems last winter was moments ago. I recall frosted fields, frozen earth, and the shattered sky-light of barren canopies.
Blog
I've been wondering what to do about this blog. It seems a useful tool, to store my notes on the internet. It seems useful to me, although I cannot put any private information on this blog. The last factor makes its' use wearisome.
I have a small opportunity to use this blog again for learning purposes. I think that is the best thing for this blog - to use it as a note-taking platform. I spend a significant amount of time researching programming languages, and I can use this blog to consolidate that information.
I anticipate a need to change the format of this blog in time. Clarity is required, which can be achieved by partitioning topics. The current structure doesn't support this.
Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship can be summarized in two parts; a portfolio ( an annotated picturebook of screenshots ), and a project. The portfolio, to my knowledge, is almost complete. I think one section more should complete it. I am concerned by the quality of evidence, for the quality of evidence is patchy. Some evidence hits the nail on the head, some evidence requires framing. The evidence descriptions themselves, the targets, are vague. Time will tell.
I am deeply grateful for the company I'm employed by. I'm slow on the uptake, but I'm absorbing a great deal of information. Some of this information and knowledge does not exist in my previous 'self-taught / alone' role. I needed to see professional teams working, and I needed to pick the brains of people with exceptional skills.
Time
Time is a on my mind it seems. I've mentioned it in various contexts here. Life is so fleeting, so precious.
